17

and I would like to have proper water drainage without having
to bottom my car every time I back out of my driveway. I'm
for the proposed new road. Take my name off of the last petition.

~ffi. CECIL MC DANIEL, 2763 North Oxford: According to the per-
formance I have seen in the past since I lived on Oxford, which is
four and a half years now, I'm against the proposal on the basis
that I feel that the street hasn't been cared for even in a minimum
of ways. Another reason is that there are a number of older people
living on this street and in the course of time it's going to
create a hardship on them to pay a bonding situation for this
street. Another thing is as I have lived there this past season
I have noticed various vehicles using that road that were completely
overloaded according to what I believe that road is capable of
carrying. I don't know who's responsible for this but as for me,
I feel if a new street is put in and it's not protected, then we the
taxpayers must rise and do whatever we feel necessary to correct
the situation. I think it's a flagrant violation.

MRS. PATRICK LARSON, 2808 Oxford: I'm very much opposed to the
reconstruction of the road. I realize it needs work, but if it
means taking 27 trees out of the neighborhood I'd just as soon put
up with the road.

MR. JOHN MC LEAN, 2847 Oxford: Just to prove that such radical
improvements aren't necessary, we too had problems wib~ our car
getting out of the driveway and asked the City to fix it, and
we're fine now. Just to prove that it's a waste of our money to
speed up our entrance into our house or whatever. It's not worth it.

MR. ALLEN CARRIER, 1040 County Road C-2: I have a question. A
couple of residents stating about the statements on the north end and
the south end of Oxford stating that in the wintertime they're not
able to negotiate the hill. If this road is improved, if those hills
,would be taken away, those (inaudible)

HR HONCHELL: vie will not be taking the hills away. To
answer your question, I presume you're asking are the grades going
to be different. It's a preliminary design, but it does, not call
for (inaudible) only minor changes in grade.

MR. CARRIER: So they will still have the problem getting up
the hill.

MR. HONCHELL: The grades will not be changed. You people go
up and down it every day.

MR. CARRIER: Also, you mentioned that the street was last
seal coated in 1974. When I stopped in here this summer to ask
some questions, I asked if the City had a record when this street
was last seal coated. I was told they did not.

MAYOR DEMOS: Maybe you should talk to Mr. Honchell when you
come in after this.
