18

MR. CARRIER: I would like to comment that the number of
people who have taken their name off the original petition makes
it fall far below the 35%. I realize you still have to have a
hearing and I would hope at this time that the Council will view
the views of the majority of the people and vote that way.

FROM THE AUDIENCE: I would like to remind the Council that
Mr. Carrier doesn't live on Oxford.

l~R. CARRIER: I have property on that street

FROM THE AUDIENCE:
five houses on each side
Oxford. How many people
south end of Oxford?

To the best of my knowledge there are
of the street from C-2 to the crest of
get stuck on the hill when they live on the

MR. JACK SPENCER, 2863 North Oxford: I am in opposition to the
resolution because we're at the extreme north end of North Oxford
and we lose 13 feet of what we thought was our front yard and now
we find it's the right-of-way.

MR. WAYNE BOYD, 2737 North Oxford: I have something that's
puzzling me, and the person who came around with the first petition
for this hasn't even spoken yet, so to me that says something about
it.

MR. ALLEN CARRIER, 1040 County Road C-2: r'd like to address
again Mr. Honchell. Nothing has been mentioned here of an alternate
plan that could be done such as if the street had to be put in why it
couldn't be put in as a 29 foot roadway. I know I have had dis-
cussions with him and he stated it would (inaudible) but they would
ban parking on one side of the street. I think this is kind of
funny because now the street is narrower than 29 feet and we do
have parking on both sides of the street and if we put a wider
street in (inaudible) I just mention that I think an alternative
plan should have been brought up.

MR. HONCHELL: The primary reason is we viewed the problem that
is going to have to be addressed with this improvement.is where the
street would be and the ipact it would have on the neighborhood.
By having a 29-foot street instead of 32 you would have the same
problems of right-of-way and all the trees,to the best of my
knowledge , still having to be removed (inaudible) we do not favor
the alternative of having the roadway stay in some cases against the
east property line as ultimately proposed. We feel the roadway
should be straightened out.

MR. CARRIER: The three feet would be saved on the west side
and I believe the trees would be saved.

MR. HONCHELL: Our (inaudible) are that they would not.

~1R. JIM DRISCOLL, 2831 North Oxford: I'm new in the neighbor-
hood but the street does need improvement and it's inevitable that
we do it and I'm in favor of that. I hate to see some people lose
