<br />Cushman moved, P. Johnson seconded, that Signcrafters,
<br />Inc. request for variance at 2775 Highway 35W
<br />(Mccarthy's Oldsmobile GMC), to allow a 28 foot tall
<br />pylon sign and a setback variance to match other
<br />existing signs in the area, be denied and directing
<br />the City Attorney's office to prepare an appropriate
<br />resolution and findings to support the denial for
<br />consideration at the regular city council meeting of
<br />May 10, 1993. Roll Call, Ayes: Maschka, Goedeke, P.
<br />Johnson, Cushman, and V. Johnson. Nays: None.

<br />Cushman moved, Maschka seconded, that Resolution 8930,
<br />awarding the bid for 1993 Contract A, City Projects
<br />P-93-02 and ST-93-07, Neighborhood 58; P-93-02,
<br />Neighborhood 62; P-93-04, Neighborhood 62; P-93-02,
<br />Neighborhood 66; and ST-92-27 in the bid amount of
<br />$1,143,861.35 to Central Landscaping, Inc. of Forest
<br />Lake, Minnesota, be adopted. Roll Call, Ayes: Maschka,
<br />Goedeke, P. Johnson, Cushman, and V. Johnson. Nays:
<br />None.

<br />P. Johnson moved, Goedeke seconded, that Resolution
<br />8931, awarding the bid for 1993 Contract B, City
<br />Projects P-93-02, Neighborhood 59; P-93-02, Neighbor-
<br />hood 60; P-93-03, Neighborhood 60; and P-93-08 in the
<br />bid amount of $968,216.60 to T. A. Schifsky and Sons,
<br />Inc. of North st. Paul, Minnesota, be adopted. Roll
<br />Call, Ayes: Maschka, Goedeke, P. Johnson, Cushman,
<br />and V. Johnson. Nays: None.

<br />Maschka moved, Cushman seconded, that Resolution 8932,
<br />awarding the bid for the purchase of a new 1993 three
<br />wheel street sweeper to ABM Equipment for a Mobil
<br />Athey H-10-A in the total net bid amount of $58,858
<br />and authorization to enter into a Purchase Agreement
<br />for the sweeper be adopted. Roll Call, Ayes: Maschka,
<br />Goedeke, P. Johnson, Cushman, and V. Johnson. Nays:
<br />None.

<br />Cushman moved, Maschka seconded, that the following
<br />amendments to the current policy for selecting and
<br />retaining Consulting Engineers be approved, and
<br />authorizing staff to begin the selection process for a
<br />new consultant pool:
<br />
<br />1. Expand the size of the pool of firms from three
<br />general municipal and one soil geotechnical firm
<br />to up to six general municipal, two geotechnical,
<br />and two environmental firms.
<br />
<br />2. Remove the criteria that a firm automatically be
<br />dropped out of the pool after two three-year
<br />periods.
