Roofs of buildings which are more than 35 feet in height, or 3500 <br />square feet in area, shall be covered with hard incombustible materials <br />of standard quality, such roofini' however, shall'rank not lower than <br />Underwriters Laboratories Class B", farm outbuildings excepted. <br /> <br />4-54. Roofs of all dwellings and all buildings not exceeding three stories, <br />or thirty-five (35) feet in height, or thirtY-five hundred (3500) square <br />feet in area, and not used for factories, warehouses or mercantile pur- <br />poses may be covered with composition shingles or ready roofings a grade <br />ranking not lower than Underwriters Laboratories Class "CD. ' <br /> <br />4-55. Debris occurring in the building area shall be removed. <br /> <br />4-56. The garage, terrace and porch floors, walks, and driveways, where <br />of concrete construction, .hall have a minimum thickness of four (4) inches. <br />The slabs shall be laid on a bed of gravel, cinders or other approved <br />material not less than four (4) inches thick. Bed may be omitted if slab <br />is properly reinforced. <br /> <br />4-57. An expansion joint shall be provided between driveway slab and <br />concrete apron at garage door and in driveways at intervals of nöt more <br />than thirty (30) feet. <br /> <br />4-58. Splash blocks constructed of concrete or other approved material <br />shall be installed at the bottom of all downspouts or leaders of dwellings <br />containing basements, exoept when downspouts or leaders are connected to <br />sewers or dry wells. The splash blooks shall be arranged to oarry rain <br />water at least three feet from the building. <br /> <br />4-59- All concrete shall be poured continuous. <br /> <br />4-60. Concrete shall not be poured in freezing weather unless proper <br />precautions are taken. <br /> <br />4-61. The type, construction and location of wells shall be in accordance <br />with the recommendations of the Minnesota State Board of Health as out- <br />lined in their bulletins, Small Water Supplies and Sewerage Systems, pub- <br />lished in 1938. <br /> <br />4-62. The type, construction and location of septic tanks or cesspools <br />and tiled disposal fields shall be in accordance with the recommendations <br />of the Minnesota Department of Health as outlined in their bulletin, Small <br />Water Supplies and Sewerage Systems, published in 1938. <br /> <br />4-63. The effluent from a septic tank must discharge into an approved <br />absorption field, cesspool or sewer line. It shall never be disoharged <br />direotly into a stream or open ditoh. <br /> <br />4-64. The minimum standards and requirements as outlined in the Minnesota <br />Plumbing Code, dated July 20, 1937, as amended May 9, 1939, shall aþply <br />in the oonstruction of every dwelling. <br /> <br />4-65. Electric wiring shall conform to the requirements of the agency <br />furnishing the power and shall be inspected before being concealed. <br />
