<br />138;. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - 11.1 <br /> <br />The draft hood should ordinarily be located adjacent to the appliance. <br />In cases where it appears desirable to place the draft hood at a distance from <br />the appliance, the size of the restricted section may be modified according to <br />the length and rise of the flue pipe. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - 11.2 <br /> <br />The proportioned section at the flue outlet of the appliance eliminates <br />the necessity of using an adjustable damper in the flue pipe and Buch damper will <br />not be permitted. <br /> <br />SECTION 2-11.3 <br /> <br />Where dampers are an integral part of the boiler or furnace, they shall <br />be removed or permanently secured in the wide open position, except such dampers <br />the function of which is to alter the passage of flue gases through the appliances , <br />which shall be locked in such a position as not to interfere with the norma1 <br />operation of the burners. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - 11.4 <br /> <br />Material used for flue pipe shall be such as to resist the corrosive <br />action of flue gases. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - 11.5 <br /> <br />Flue pipe of existing ~stems shall be relocated where necessary and new <br />flue pipe installations shall be so made as to avoid sharp turns or other <br />constructional features which would create excessive resistance to the flow of <br />flue gases. Flue pipes shall slope upward to chimney. <br /> <br />SECTION 2-11.6 <br /> <br />Flue pipe shall be tightly connec.ted to the chimney liner, so as to prevent <br />infiltration of cold air. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - 11.7 <br /> <br />No baffles shall be applied which will interfere with the proper cOlJ1bul'ltion <br />of the gas. <br /> <br />Section 2 - 11.8 <br /> <br />Flue pipe shall be well supported to prevent sagging and shall not be <br />installed closer than six (6) inches t.o any combustible building mater~als <br />~~less flue pipe is covered with incombustible insulation such that the surface <br />temperature o~ the exterior surface thereof attain 8 temperature not higher than <br />one hundred twenty-five (125) degrees Fahrenheit when the appliance is under <br />continuous operation. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - 11.9 <br /> <br />All space heating equipment shall be of the vented type and properly <br />vented to an effective flue. <br />
