<br />140 <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - 14 PILOTS: <br /> <br />Each gas burner shall be equipped with a safety device arranged to prevent <br />the flow of gas through the main burner unless the pilot flame is burning, to <br />consist of a thermostatic pilot or other similar type of safety device. The <br />operation of this device shall not depend upon the closing of an electric circuit <br />to shut off the main gas supply. Gas burners installed under Section 2-11.10 <br />are exempt from this provision. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - 14.1 <br /> <br />Pilot burners shall be rigidly supported in such a manner that their <br />position relative to the main burner or burners will be fixed. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - 14.2 <br /> <br />Pilot burner or burners shall be so placed that they can be .safely <br />lighted and they shall be readily accessible or removable for cleaning. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - 14.3 <br /> <br />Pilot lines shall be connected to vertical main gas supply lines or to the <br />side or top of horizontal lines ahead of all controls including pressure regu- <br />lators and appliance shut-off, and shall be prov.ided- with a separate cock. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - Ih.4 <br /> <br />Thermostatic safety pilots shall be so adjusted that main gas supply <br />will be shut off within three (3) minutes after .pilot flames has been extinguished <br />under continuous operating conditions. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - 15 MAIN SHUT-OFF V_~VE OR COCK: <br /> <br />A manually operated approved shut-off valve or cock shall be installed at <br />each appliance to shut off the entire gas supply to the appliance, except the <br />pilot, in cases of emergency. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - 15.1 <br /> <br />Such valve or cock shall be so located that it is readily accessible, at <br />about five feet above the floor, and shall clear~y indicate the "on" and "off" <br />positions, or direction of rotation to ~pen or close. Where a cock is provided, <br />the opening handle shall be securely attached to the plug in such manner that <br />it may not be readily removed. <br /> <br />SECTION 2 - 16 AUTOMATIC CONTROL: <br /> <br />Electric control valves shall be installed according to the instructions <br />furnished by the manufacturer. All heating equipment shall be automatically <br />controlled by thermostat except heaters insta~led in fireplaces as provided in <br />Section 2-11.10. <br />
