<br />~ <br />\;"$& <br /> <br />7 -14 Masonry shall be laid in the following type s of mortar: Type A or B mortar <br />used in foundation walls of hollow masonry units. <br />Type A,B or C mortar shall be used in cavity wall masonry except that TyPe A <br />mortar shall be used in cavity walls having a mortar thickness of ten (10) <br />inches. <br />Type A, B or C mortar shall be used in footings, foundationwalls of solid masonry <br />units, isolated piers, cavity walls exceeding ten (10) inch mortar thicknest <br />and load bearing or exterior walls of hoWlow masonry units. <br /> <br />7-15 The determination of the proportions of cement, aggregate and water to attain <br />the required strengths shall be made by one of the following methods: Concrete <br />made from average materials. Gallons Sack per Cu. <br />7 1/2 5 <br />6 3/4 5 1/2 <br />6 6 <br />5 7 <br /> <br />In interpreting this table, surface water contained in the <br />aggregate must be included as part of the mixing water in <br />computing the water-cont. <br /> <br />Average concrete shall consist of one (1) part .Portland Cement and not more <br />than six (6) parts aggregate, by volume measured dry, and not more than seven <br />and one-half (7!) gallons of water per sack, ninety-four (94) pounds, of cement. : <br />The aggregate shall be mixed in an approximate ratio#, of two and one-half (2!) <br />parts fine aggregate and three and one-half Oi) parts coarse aggregate. <br /> <br />Note: <br /> <br />7-16 Structural steel and iron shall comply with the recommendations of the Ameriaan <br />Institute of Steel Construction. <br /> <br />7-17 Soft wood lumber shall meet the grading requirements of the Association reeog- <br />nized in the trade as covering the species under whose grading rules it was <br />produced. This requirement shall not apply to millwork or interior finish. <br />The use of native lumber shall be. permi tted only as directed by the. building <br />inspector. <br /> <br />7-18 Lumber shall be dry and well seasoned. <br /> <br />7-19 Gutters and downspouts where installed shall be of corrosion resisting metals. <br />Solid wood gutters will be acceptable if inside surface is properly protecte d <br />by two(2) coats of pitch, or three 0) coats of lead and oil. <br /> <br />7-20 Approved built up roofing, vertical or edge grain wood shingles, asbestos, slate,; <br />or their equivalent will be accepted. <br /> <br />7-21 Felt material (15# minimum) shall be placed on all parts of every composition <br /> <br />-55- <br />
