He shall enforce all laws relating If' to the construction, alteration, moving, demolition, raising or lowering, 11se and occupancy, location and maintenance of buildings and structures, except as rr..ay be otherwise provided for in other ordinances or regulatory measures. He shall, when requested by proper authority, or when the interests of the municipality so requires, make investigations in connection with matters referred to in this code and render reports on the saroo. To enforce compliance with law, to remove illegal or unsafe conditions, to secure the necessary safeguards during donstruetion, or to require adequate exit facitities in buildings and structures, he shall issue such notices or orders as may be necessary. 1-8 The governing body may appoint an electrical inspector. 1-9 Any person appointed to the position of electrical inspector shall be a competent electrician who shall have had at least two years' experience as a journeyman in the practice of his trade or two years' training in'a recog- nized college of electrical engineering, shall be well versed in aCi:roved methods of electrical construction for safety of lilt'e and property, the stat- utes of the State of 11innesota relating to electrical work, the rules and regulations issued by the Industrial Commission of Minnesota and the Rail- road the Warehouse Conmussion of ~1innesota under authority of the statutes, the National Electrical Code, as approved by the American Engineering St~d- ards Conuni ttee, and the National Electrical Safety Code, as approved by the American Engineering Standards Committee. 1-10 The Electrical Inspector shall not engage in the business of the installation and the maintenance of electric wiring, electric devices and electrical mat- erial either directly OD indirectly in the municipality and he shall have no financial interest in any concern engaged in such business in the municipality. 1-11 The Electrical Inspector shall make thorough inspection of the installation in buildings of all electric wiring, electric devices and electric materials now installed or that may hereafter be installed, within this municipality, and when the installation of any such wiring, devices or material is found to be in a dangerous or unsafe condition he shall notity the person, firm or corporation owning, using, operation or installing the same in writing to place the installation of' such wiring, devices and material in a safe con- dition and he shall immediately nlace a notice in a conspicuous place upon such dangerous. or unsafe wiring, devices and material stating that said ..dring, devices or mate::'ial is unsafe and shall not be used until it is put in a safe condition and thereafter it shall be unlawful to use said wiring, devices and material until it has been placed in a safe condition and has been 5.nspected and approved by said inspector. 1-12 The governing body may appoint a plumbing inspector. 1-13 The person appointed to the position of plumbing inspector shall be a com- petent plumber who shall have had at least two years' experience as a journey- san or master plumber in the practice of his trade. He shall be well versed in approved methods of plumbing construction, the statutes of the State of 11innestoa relating to plumbing work and the ~1innesota Plumbing code as adop- ted by the Hinnesota State Board of Health as amended. -2-
