He shall enforce all laws relating <br />If' to the construction, alteration, moving, demolition, raising or lowering, 11se and <br />occupancy, location and maintenance of buildings and structures, except as rr..ay be <br />otherwise provided for in other ordinances or regulatory measures. He shall, when <br />requested by proper authority, or when the interests of the municipality so requires, <br />make investigations in connection with matters referred to in this code and render <br />reports on the saroo. To enforce compliance with law, to remove illegal or unsafe <br />conditions, to secure the necessary safeguards during donstruetion, or to require <br />adequate exit facitities in buildings and structures, he shall issue such notices <br />or orders as may be necessary. <br /> <br />1-8 The governing body may appoint an electrical inspector. <br /> <br />1-9 Any person appointed to the position of electrical inspector shall be a <br />competent electrician who shall have had at least two years' experience as a <br />journeyman in the practice of his trade or two years' training in'a recog- <br />nized college of electrical engineering, shall be well versed in aCi:roved <br />methods of electrical construction for safety of lilt'e and property, the stat- <br />utes of the State of 11innesota relating to electrical work, the rules and <br />regulations issued by the Industrial Commission of Minnesota and the Rail- <br />road the Warehouse Conmussion of ~1innesota under authority of the statutes, <br />the National Electrical Code, as approved by the American Engineering St~d- <br />ards Conuni ttee, and the National Electrical Safety Code, as approved by the <br />American Engineering Standards Committee. <br /> <br />1-10 The Electrical Inspector shall not engage in the business of the installation <br />and the maintenance of electric wiring, electric devices and electrical mat- <br />erial either directly OD indirectly in the municipality and he shall have no <br />financial interest in any concern engaged in such business in the municipality. <br /> <br />1-11 The Electrical Inspector shall make thorough inspection of the installation <br />in buildings of all electric wiring, electric devices and electric materials <br />now installed or that may hereafter be installed, within this municipality, <br />and when the installation of any such wiring, devices or material is found to <br />be in a dangerous or unsafe condition he shall notity the person, firm or <br />corporation owning, using, operation or installing the same in writing to <br />place the installation of' such wiring, devices and material in a safe con- <br />dition and he shall immediately nlace a notice in a conspicuous place upon <br />such dangerous. or unsafe wiring, devices and material stating that said ..dring, <br />devices or mate::'ial is unsafe and shall not be used until it is put in a safe <br />condition and thereafter it shall be unlawful to use said wiring, devices and <br />material until it has been placed in a safe condition and has been 5.nspected <br />and approved by said inspector. <br /> <br />1-12 The governing body may appoint a plumbing inspector. <br /> <br />1-13 The person appointed to the position of plumbing inspector shall be a com- <br />petent plumber who shall have had at least two years' experience as a journey- <br />san or master plumber in the practice of his trade. He shall be well versed <br />in approved methods of plumbing construction, the statutes of the State of <br />11innestoa relating to plumbing work and the ~1innesota Plumbing code as adop- <br />ted by the Hinnesota State Board of Health as amended. <br /> <br />-2- <br />
