<br />sewer trench or drain laid, or to be laid, either in the street or <br />in private property, except that the water pipe on private property <br />may be in a common trench with a sewer drain which is made of cast <br />iron sail pipe with caulked leaded joints, and provided further that <br />the horizontal distance between the sewer pipe and the water service <br />is at least ten (10) feet at property line, and provided that the <br />water service pipe approaches the sewer trench at an angle with the <br />property line of not less than 450 and having bends with not less <br />than a three (3) foot radius. <br /> <br />Where it is desired to lay the water-service pipe and the <br />building drain or bUilding sewer pipe in the same trench or in <br />separate trenches less than ten feet apart, the water-service pipe <br />should be above the sewer pipe, and unless impracticable, it shall <br />be placed at least two (2) feet above the sewer and on a solid shelf <br />excavated at one side of the trench. The sewer pipe shall be <br />constructed of substantial material which is corrosion-resistant <br />and it should be installed so as to remain water-tight. Extra heavy <br />cast-iron soil pipe with tested water-tight joints is acceptable for <br />this construction. The water service pipe shall be water-tight and <br />corrosion-resistant. Copper pipe and cast-iron water pipe with <br />specially protected jOints is acceptable for this construction. <br />Cast-iron pipe shall conform to the American Water Association <br />Specifications for such pipe. Bell-joint clamps with rubber gaskets <br />are provisionally acceptable as extra protection for the joints on <br />cast-iron water pipe. In all cases, precautions should be taken to <br />assure a firm foundation for the pipes. The intervenaing space between <br />the pipes should be back-filled with compact earth. <br /> <br />SECTION V. <br /> <br />REPAIR OF PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY <br /> <br />The backfilling of an excavation shall not be finally <br />approved until all streets. pavements, curbs and boulevards or other <br />public improvements thereon have been restored to their former con- <br />dition to the satisfaction of the Village Engineer. <br /> <br />SECTION VI. <br /> <br />RECORDING OF APPURTENANCES <br /> <br />After the connection is made, the person securing the permit <br />shall furnish to the Village, on forms furnished by the Village. <br />information as to type of all appurtenances, their location, identifying <br />descriptions and any other features that may be required to properly <br />record such information. <br /> <br />-3- <br />
