<br />seek or accept nominations or election to any elective office <br />of the Village Government except the position of Village <br />Constable. Employees may not use their influence publicly <br />in any way for or against any candidate for elective offices <br />in the Village Government, circulate petitions or campaign <br />literature for elective Village officials, or be in any way <br />concerned with the soliciting or receiving of any subscription, <br />contribution or political service from any person for any <br />political purpose pertaining to the government of the <br />Village. If an employee wishes to engage in such activities <br />he must resign from Village employment. <br />254.060. Layoffs. Should it become necessary to reduce <br />the number of employees, every effort shall be made to transfer <br />employees to other departments. If such transfer is impossible, <br />layoff shall be on the basis of length of service. <br />254.070. Loyalty Oath. All employees shall be required <br />to sign the following oath signifying loyalty to the U. S. <br />Constitution: <br />"I, (name of employee) , do not advocate nor have ever <br />advocated, or am now or ever have been a member of any <br />organization that advocates, to my knowledge, the overthrow <br />of the Government of the United States by force or violence." <br />
