<br />the safety and general welfare of the Village, and said <br />suspension shall be without compensation if the Village <br />Council concurs in the suspension, or dismisses or demotes the <br />employee. <br />(2) Any suspension shall be placed on the Council agenda <br />at the next regular meeting and the employee shall have the <br />right to appear before the Council and the Council shall at <br />that time determine to either reinstate the employee with pay, <br />suspend, demote or discharge the employee. <br />251.040. Period of Suspension. The period of suspension <br />shall not exceed 30 days. <br />251.050. Veteran's Preference. Nothing in this chapter <br />shall be effective to the extent that it is inconsistent with <br />the "Veterans Preference" Law, Chapter 197, Minnesota Statutes. <br />252. Leaves, Holidays, and Allied Benefits <br />252.010. Service Credit. A regular employee's service <br />credit begins on the date of employment and is calculated as <br />follows: <br />(1) An employee who works twelve or more days in a <br />calendar month will receive full service credit for that month. <br />(2) An employee who works less than twelve days in any <br />calendar month will not receive service credit for that month, <br />except when unavoidable sick, injured, in military leave, or <br />on paid vacation. The department head shall determine whether <br />the employee is entitled to service credit under fuis section. <br />
