<br />-2- <br /> <br />Subject File 469-68 - Dale Calender request for vacation of south half of Laurie Road, <br />east of Uaddington Road. <br /> <br />Mr. Dale Calender stated that relatively few cars are served by the loop of Haddington <br />Road and Laurie Road. I-Ie felt that he could retain the residentaial character of their <br />area if this vacation were allowed. He has a petition signed by tne people in the area <br />for the granting of this request. The School District and a representative of the Dayton <br />Development Corporation wouldn't sign the petition. The Commission's feeling seemed to be <br />that we should wait and see how the other property develops and if the street is not <br />developed it can then be vacated. After discussion <br /> <br />It was ooved by Edlund and seconded by Remsburg that we recomnend to the Council that they <br />deny this request for vacation of street. Roll Call, Ayes (5) - Nays (0) - Abstention (1) <br />Pope abstaining. <br /> <br />Subject File 471-68 - Renaming of old section of County Road C to Cedarholm Street <br /> <br />It was moved by Remsburg and seconded by Anderson that we lay this over until our meeting <br />on Oc tober 2, 1968. Roll Ca 11 : unanimous. <br /> <br />Subject File 472-68 - Halvor Nelson request for variance to side yard. setback at 2773 <br />Matilda Street <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson said that this would be a utility building to be used. for storage at the present <br />time. He has a two car g'~rage attached to his house that faces J'.1atilda Street. The set- <br />back of 15' would line the utility build.ing up with his house. Also there are other homes in <br />the area with this kind of setback. To begin with he will not be putting in a driveway up <br />to this building. It will have an overhead door with the opening facing Iona Lane. After <br />discussion <br /> <br />It was moved by Anderson and seconded by Pope that we reconunend to the Council that they <br />grant the request for a side yard variance as requested. Roll Call: Ayes (5) - Nays (0). <br />Abstention (1), Edlund. abstaining. <br /> <br />Subject File 473-68 - State of MiImesota, Highway Department request for approval of pre- <br />liminary plan for overpass at Victoria Avenue and Highway 36. <br /> <br />After discussion there appeared to be questions that would have to be answered before we <br />could make a decision on this so <br /> <br />It was moved by Pope and seconded by Anderson that we table this rratter until our meeting <br />of CX:tober 2, 1968, and that we ask our consultant to check into the following: 1) access <br />to the trailer park; 2) extent of acquisition of residentail property on the east side; <br />3) access for the gravel pit area on the southeast corner. Roll Call: unaniIJJ)us. <br /> <br />Subject File 474-68 - Donnay-Schreiber request for rezoning of property from R-l to <br />R-3A, Special Use Permit for a 45 unit building, and variance to <br />rear yard setback at southwest corner of Cope Avenue and Dale Street. <br /> <br />Mr. Uaubney spoke for the petitioner. He stated that they had the required land space for <br />the building that they are proposing. There would be 31 one bedroom and 14 two bedroom <br />units with underground parking for 45 cars as required by ordinance. The rear yard var- <br />iance was requested so that they could keep the building further back from Cope Avenue. <br />This they felt was better than keeping it away from Highway 36. !vir. Dudley,representing <br />Mr. and Mrs. O'Neil said they objected because of the change that it would bring in the <br />neighborhood. They are going to start construction on Lovell in 1969 and the apartment <br />would detract from their residential property. He stated that the 701 Program called for <br />two story buildings in this area. Dr. Olin stated that Highway 36 character would be <br />
