<br />-4- <br /> <br />Planning File 882 - Burger King request for variance to directional sign requirements <br />at 2151 Snelling Avenue. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />The applicant requested that their application be continued until the Commission meets <br />in April. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Mr, V. Johnson moved and Mr. Kellett seconded that BurgerKing's request for variance <br />to directional sign requirements at 2151 Snelling Avenue be continued until the <br />April 2 Planning Commission meeting. Roll Call, Ayes: V. Johnson, Kellett, Membrez, <br />Cushing, and G. Johnson. Nays: None. <br /> <br />Planning File 883-- Tusler Lodge request for rezoning from R-1 to R-3A, special use <br />permit, divis~n of lot and conditional use permit at 1321 County <br />Road B-2 <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. Jerry Okerman, representing Tusler Lodge, indicated that the Lodge had previously <br />planned to build their facility on Hamline Avenue south of the present site. How- <br />ever, the property was purchased by the State of Minnesota for the Highway 36 Inter- <br />change. Tusler is now seeking a rezoning to R-3A with a special use permit which <br />would permit at private lodge. <br /> <br />Mr. Okerman stated the Lodge has two meetings per month with approximately 15-20 <br />members attending each meeting. The total membership of the Lodge is approximately <br />200. He stated that there is also one all day Saturday meeting every 6 months. <br /> <br />Mr. Don Nordblum, architect for the applicant, indicated that the proposed facility <br />would have a full basement and a main floor. He stated that the exterior would be a <br />combination of brick, glass, stucco, and steel paneling. The same exterior treatment <br />would be on all four sides. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mr, Kramer stated that the City Engineering Department requested consideration be <br />given to dedication of right-of-way on Hamline Avenue and County Road B-2. He also <br />commented that an underground drainage pipe coming from the catch basin on the pro- <br />perty should be extended toward the lake so that the water runs uneerneath the bike <br />trail located in the City park. The pipe should have an outflow constructed to meet <br />City requirements. <br /> <br />Mr. Okerman indicated that lodge rules do not permit alcoholic consumption on the <br />property. He stated that the first floor, as a matter of tradition, would not be <br />rented~ but that the basement could be rented for wedding receptions, etc. Mr. John <br />Robinson representing Tusler Lodge indicated that no sign other than the small sign <br />on the building is contemplated at this time. <br /> <br />Mrs. Marilyn Roteer, 2440 Hamline Avenue, objected to the Lodge.
