<br />-6- <br /> <br />Mr. Frank Reese, architect, representing the applicant, indicated that the filters <br />and tanks to be placed on the property for filtering the water before it would enter <br />the lake, would have to be cleaned from time to time by the developer. The filters <br />would be located on the developer's property. He stated that the filtering <br />process would remove the oil and gas before the water entered the lake. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />One of the residents in the area questioned how a wood baffling system was going to <br />cdilect the oil and gas from the water. Mr. Ed McCarty, 1894 County Road C-2, commented <br />that the noise pollution in the area during the night hours was very bad especially <br />during the summer when the windows of the homes are open. <br /> <br />Mr. Harold McCarty indicated that the oil and grease from the truck lines has been <br />going into the lake for many years and that it has created a very polluted situation. <br />Mr. Ken Wessenburg, 1840 County Road C-2, indicated that he can hear every word said <br />on the loud speakers used by the trucking firms during the nite. <br /> <br />Mr. Kramer indicated that the City Engineering Department would recommend that <br />there be an additional dedication of right-of-way on the north end of Prior Avenue <br />for constructing a cuI de sac. He also recommended that a berm be placed around the <br />filter tanks to pre~t them from spilling over and that the outflow to the lake be <br />constructed to prevent erosion. Mr. Steve Walsh, 1984 County Road C-2, presented a <br />petition to the Commission with 21 signatues opposing the proposed development. He <br />felt that a much nicer industry CGuld be located in the area. Mr. Don Hewitt, 1794 <br />Maple Lane, Chairman of the Fairview Heights Civic Association, asked the Commission <br />to continue the application and ask the applicant to consider expanding the prea to <br />be dedicated. Also to give more specific information on the means of filtering the <br />water before it enters the lake. <br /> <br />Mrs, Carol MacLean, on behalf of the Roseville League of Women Voters, presented a <br />written statement to the Commission in which the League expressed their approval of <br />the property to be dedicated to the City for open space purposes but voiced concern <br />about the quality of the water which would be leaving the parking lots and draining <br />into Langton Lake. <br /> <br />Mr. Wally Greensten, representing Midwest Motor Express, supported the application. <br />He stated that his trucking firm has no problem with the runoff of gas and oil, <br />Mr. John Buckley, 1866 County Road C-2, commented that the dediation of the property <br />for open space was certainly a good gesture. However, he opposed the project because <br />of the pollution of the lake and noise pollution. If this development were approved, <br />the pollution problems would be increased. <br /> <br />Mr. Pikoski indicated that the option his firm has with the present owner, Ordway <br />Truck, expires May 1, 1975, and he was not sure whether the option could be renewed. <br />Mrs. Pat Johnson indicated that she would like to see a larger dedication of proper- <br />ty to the City on the west side of the lake. <br /> <br />Mrs. Carolyn Fisher, 2939 Mildred Drive, inquired if Hyman would consider dedicating <br />a portion of the B-1 property running east to Fairview Avenue as an access to the <br />open space. Mr. Pikoski indicated that they have not given that any consideration, <br /> <br />Mr. Membrez stated that there appeared to be a lot of unanswered questions 0 <br />
