<br />t) <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />!\lr. !\fuski, real estate agent representing PIK Terminal and also the seller of the <br />property, the Ordway Trust, indicated that since the last time PIK Terminal made <br />application for rezoning in the area they had purchased the Raymond Transfer Com- <br />pany. He stated tha PIK had approximately l40 employees before the purchase and <br />nO\v added another 100 employees with the purchase of Raymond. He said that the pur- <br />chase option with the Ordway Trust expires April 1, 1976. <br /> <br />Mr. Frank Reese, architect representing the applicant indicated that the plan pro- <br />vides for parking the trucks inside the proposed building when loading and unload- <br />ing on the north side. He stated that the landscaping plan calls for the relocation <br />of trees from the proposed parking lot area to the property proposed to be dedicated <br />to the City for park. <br /> <br />~~. Reese stated that the existing building is a metal structure and that the new <br />building will have a similar exterior. He stated that both the truck terminal and <br />the maintenance building located to the east will be expanded. PIK Terminal will <br />construct an 8 foot high f~~ce around the entIre property. <br /> <br />tvIr. Reese commented that on(:f of the concerns expressed by neighborhood residents in <br />the past has been the noise from the loud speaker system. He stated that a radio <br />system will be'installed in the future so that the loudspeakers can be removed, He <br />also commented that PIK Terminal has never used the air-starters which are a major <br />contribution to noise pollution. The berms which will be constructed on the south <br />and west portions of the lakeshore will contain as much as 20 feet of fill. <br /> <br />Mr. Martin Lundy, Professional Engineer, representing the applicant, described the <br />, system of baffles which is proposed to be installed for the purpose of purifying the <br />runoff water from the PIK Terminal before it reaches the lake. <br /> <br />The applicant indicated that the washing of trucks would be done inside the new <br />addition to the maitenance building. The entire property will be used by PIK Terminal <br />and there will be no purchase of land by other truck terminals as proposed in the <br />previous application. Mr. Lundy indicated there would be one out-fall to the lake <br />1vhich would serve all the baffles and pipes in the proposal, <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. Donald Fisher, 2939 Mildred Drive, inquired as to the length of the new addition. <br />The proposed east-west expansion of the truck terminal would be 700 feet. <br /> <br />!\tt. North read the 16 conditions which had been prepared by the City Staff for the <br />Commission's consideration if they should decide to recorrunend approval of the appli- <br />cation. !\rr. Gene Pikowski, president of PIK Terminal indicated that he was in agree- <br />ment 1Vith all 16 conditions. <br /> <br />Mr. David MacLean inquired if the owner intended to require his drivers to enter and <br />leave Highway 35W at County Road C or County Road D. Mr. Pikowski responded that <br />County Road C is now used and that they would continue to do so. <br /> <br />~Ir. Robert Thompson, Cleveland Avenue, indicated that he did not think the 6 foot <br />high berm would be sufficient to muffle the noise level. <br />
