<br />-3- <br /> <br />?lanning File 998 - Medtronic, Inc. request for special use pennit at 2199 Pascal Avenue <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Sally Lemker, representing Medtronic, indicated that they propose to lease the former <br />Deluxe Check building for three years. The facility would be used for the development <br />~md manufacture of electronic devices for treatment of acute and chronic pain patients, <br />stroke victims, etc. She indicated that there would be no construction of additions to <br />the building. It is estimated there will be 100 employees by the end of 1977. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. G. Johnson indicated he had visited the Medtronic Plant in St. Anthony and felt the <br />proposed use of the building would be a fine addition for Roseville. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Mr. Kellett moved and Mr. Simons seconded, that the Commission recommend approval of <br />Medtronic, Inc. request for special use permit at 2199 Pascal Avenue. Roll Call, Ayes: <br />Mastel, Simons, Kellett, Rukavina and G. Johnson. Nays: None. <br /> <br />planning File 999 - Har Mar, Inc. request for rezoning from R-l to B-l-B, special use <br />permit and variances at 2100 North Snelling Avenue <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mrs. Marie Slawik indicated that she and Dr. Thomas Votel were proposing a j oint venture <br />to develop a medical building on the south portion of her existing parking lot. She stated <br />that Dr. Votel would move his practice from the Lexington-Larpenteur Avenue Clinic in <br />St. Paul to this proposed facility in Roseville. Dr. Votel indicated that he has been <br />practicing in the area for 20 years and \~ould like to return his practice to Roseville. <br /> <br />~~. Jackels, architect representing the applicant, indicated that they did not propose to <br />change the traffic pattern at all; that the only entrance and exit would be from the Har-Mar <br />parking lot to the north. There would be no access to the proposed building from the south, <br />~ast or west residential areas. He stated that the landscaping would remain basically the <br />same except that it is proposed to reduce the 70 foot buffer strip on the west property line <br />::'0 40 feet. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />i'.!r. Art Soike asked why the 70 foot buffer zone could not be left intact and use more of the <br />parking lot already constructed to the south. <br /> <br />~.'rrs. Slawik indicated the leases with the tenants of her shopping center require a certain <br />number of parking spaces to be provided. <br /> <br />';\!r. John Owens, 1345 Skillman, asked why the owner of the shopping center did not poll the <br />tenants of the center and find out if they would be willing to reduce the number of spaces <br />required in the lease. <br /> <br />~'rrs. Slawik indicated that she could not break faith with the tenants. The leases are for <br />25 years. <br /> <br />~IT. ~vens asked why the property rn~ers ShOllld bear the burden of providing sufficient park- <br />ing by reducing the buffer from 70 feet to 40 feet. He stated that he welcomes the medical <br />building and thinks it will be fine addition, but that the buffer strip sJlould remain at <br />70 feet. <br />
