<br />-9- <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson stated it was his intent to retain a green area directly in front of the <br />existing structure, but that sane parking along Larpenteur Avenue was necessary. <br /> <br />Mr. Ken SiIIDns agreed that 3 entrances could be closed am suggested that possibly <br />the traffic problem could be resolved by turning the proposed buildings located on <br />the west of the property lengthwise. <br /> <br />Fecormendation <br /> <br />Mr. Rukavina roved, Mrs. Dressler seconded, that the Conmission recarrnend approval <br />of W. C. Johnson Associates request for variance to building and parking setback and <br />pennission to park on public right-of-way at 626 Larpenteur Avenue with the <br />following conditions: <br /> <br />1. 'Ihat the storm water rnanagenent plan be approved by the City Engineer. <br />2. '!hat all proposed drives except the northernrcost and westernrcost entrances <br />be closed. <br />3. 'Ihat inprovenent to the building front take place as shcMn on the plan as <br />submitted. <br />4. Johnson. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />Planning File 1145 - St. Paul & Suburban Bus Canpany request for special use pennit <br />at 2755 Iong Lake Ibad <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Mr. Dahlgren indicated that the applicant proposes to utilize the rear portion of <br />Mr. Print building (Old Winnebago s1.te) for storage and naintenance of school buses. <br />He indicated in the past the=City had denied the use of this property for transport- <br />ation activities enphasizing the desire to have the property utilized for ccmrercial <br />activities. He did state, though, that possibly the Comnission nay wish to consider <br />a:l:lmwd,ng a special use penni t for a period of one year so as to facilitate the school <br />busing operation. <br /> <br />Mr. Dahlgren noted that the proposed plan indicates an area extending 50 feet around <br />the butane tank to the westerly property. '!he Fire Marshal has indicated his desire <br />that no buses be parked within this area and also that a 30 foot fire land be nain- <br />tained at all tirres. <br /> <br />Mr. Fegan, President of St. Paul & Suburban Bus Canpany stated that recently his <br />company had been awarded the contract for providing bus services to the Ibseville <br />School District. He indicated his intent to store and operate approximately 120 buses <br />from this site and also his desire to be located within the carm..mity. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. V. Johnson asked if the applicant would be leasing the property and if so if <br />he would be agreeable to a one year penni t. <br /> <br />Mr. Fegan stated that he was leasing.and would be agreeable to one year providing <br />it was subject t6 review after the first year with the possibility of continuance. <br /> <br />Mr. G. Johnson asked if any inprovements C>I:' alterations to the site were necessary. <br /> <br />Mr. Fegan stated that the site would be used in its present state. <br />
