<br />-2- <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Dr. John Kennedy, owner of the rredical clinic located across Roma from the <br />01' Mexico Restaurant, stated that he was pleased to see a quality restaurant <br />in the shopping center. He indicated that he was not opposed to the request <br />to have live entertai.nnenti hCMever, his concern related to the parking in the <br />area. He stated that approximately 40 to 45 cars park in his parking lot on <br />Friday and Saturday nights. He stated that there has been damage to the signs <br />in his parking lot and to his building as well as two atterrpted breakins of the <br />building since 01' ~xico opened. <br /> <br />Mr. V. Johnson indicated that perhaps there could be a contractual arrange- <br />nent between 01' ~xico and Dr. Kennedy regarding the use of his parking lot. <br /> <br />Mr. Belisle c~ted that Dr. Kennedy has been very patient for the past IIDnths <br />and that the 01' Mexico owners are aware that ma.ny of their customers are park- <br />ing in Dr. Kennedy's lot. He stated that they would continue to work with <br />Dr. Kennedy in attempting to eliminate and solve the problem. <br /> <br />Dr. Kennedy stated that he was also concerned about his liability as property <br />CMner for those people who are parking illegally in his lot. <br /> <br />Mrs. Cushing suggested that perhaps Dr. Kennedy could put a chain across the <br />entrance to his parking lot. <br /> <br />Dr. Kennedy indicated that he hasn't had to do that for the past 14 years. <br /> <br />Mr. Belisle comrented that when they recently expanded their restaurant they <br />provided for an additional 308 parking spaces across Iexington Avenue and have <br />spent $17,000 to light the new lot. <br /> <br />Mr. V. Johnson felt that the question of adequate parking and providing live <br />entertainIrent were related. He stated the Ii ve entertai.rJInent would cause the <br />customers to stay longer in the restaurant, thus intensifying the parking <br />problem. <br /> <br />Mr. Belisle indicated they were very happy to work with Dr. Kennedy to solve <br />the problem but because of the fact that they had provided the additional park- <br />ing required for their restaurant, they would prefer not to permit their custorrers <br />to park in Dr. Kennedy IS lot. <br /> <br />Mrs. Dressler felt that Dr. Kennedy could solve the problem by putting up a <br />chain across his entrance as previously suggested. <br /> <br />Mr. V. Johnson suggested that perhaps a time limit could be placed on the <br />special use permit so that it would be reviewed in 3 or 4 IIDnths to see if the <br />new parking arrangenent was working and if the problem experienced by Dr. Kennedy <br />had been solved. <br /> <br />Mr. SiIIDns indicated that the parking provided by 01' M9xico meets the require- <br />rrents of the city code. He said he didn't feel that the question of entertainment <br />related to the parking problem experienced by Dr. Kennedy. <br />
