<br />Planning Commission Minutes <br />October 5, 1983 <br />-3- <br /> <br />Wiski suggested if the future nursing wing were removed from the proposal, <br />this 5-6 acres of land could be used for the passive park. <br /> <br />wiski indicated the configuration of the site is difficult because of bad <br />access from County Road D and Arthur. He indicated all parking should be <br />off D, rather than building a new parking lot west of the school building. <br />wiski suggested the conversion of the school building is appropriate, but <br />the development should be limited to that which can be supported by access <br />and parking to the north. <br /> <br />wiski also suggested it is encumbent on the City to provide access from the <br />west before the development of the public park for active use. <br /> <br />Dressler indicated the Commission has not received sufficient information <br />from the applicant to allow an informed decision. She suggested the <br />Commission needs time to study the specific passive park proposal of the <br />applicant. Berry indicated she has concerns about activity generated by <br />the elderly care facility. She would like more information on traffic <br />generation and parking needs before she makes a decision on the application. <br /> <br />Johnson indicated the applicant has not provided sufficient information to <br />enable a decision to be made. She felt she could not vote on a proposal <br />received just before the meeting. <br /> <br />Rukavina indicated he felt significant progress had been made. However, <br />there are elements of the proposal which have not been dealt with. The <br />applicant needs to address parking, traffic, and land use issues in detail. <br />Rukavina indicated it would be a disservice to take action on the applica- <br />tion without further examination of the proposal. wiski suggested the <br />City should provide the applicant with some direction to aid them in <br />providing sufficient information on their proposal. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Dressler Moved and Johnson Seconded that the Planning <br />the hearing on Presbyterian Homes' application to the <br />meeting of the Planning Commission. Roll Call, Ayes: <br />Moeller, Berry, Dressler, and Rukavina. Nays: Wiski. <br /> <br />Commission continue <br />November 2, 1983 <br />Johnson, Matson, <br /> <br />Planning File 1459 - Heco, Inc. request for variance to sign setback at <br />2277 Highway 36. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Howard Dahlgren indicated Hoffman Electric proposes to place a sign contiguous <br />to their southerly property line. The ordinance calls for a 30-foot setback. <br />Hoffman Electric has retained many trees on their site. They feel the trees <br />
