Planning Commission Minutes
-4-

wiski indicated his initial reaction was that a compromise solution involving
the overhang length would be acceptable. He then noticed that the other
people in the neighborhood had worked hard to meet the code requirements for
their garage expansions. He felt the hardship to Mr. McGurran was not
significant enough to approve the variance.

DeBenedet indicated he felt the City needs to allow homeowners to improve
their property in reasonable ways.

Recommendation

DeBenedet moved and Dressler seconded that the Planning Commission recommend
approval of Kelly HcGurran's request for a I-foot 9-inch variance to the south
side yard setback requirement at 2849 Marion.

Roll Call, Ayes: DeBenedet, Berry, Dressler, and Moeller. Nays: Matson and
Wiski.

Planning File 1496 - Roselawn Cemetery request for preliminary plat at 803
Larpenteur.

Presentation

Mr. Dahlgren indicated the applicant proposes to plat two new divisions in the
cemetery for grave sites. The only issue is whether the City should require
dedication of right-of-way along Victoria as a condition to the approval.

The applicant was not present at the meeting.

Discussion

Moeller indicated he was uncomfortable taking action on the dedication without
the applicant present.

Wiski suggested the dedication condition could be placed on the approval; and if
the applicant disagrees, he can come back to the Commission.

Berry moved and Matson seconded that the Planning Commission recommend approval of
Roselawn Cemetery's request for preliminary plat at 803 Larpenteur, with the
condition that an additional 10 feet of right-of-way be dedicated along Victoria
where the property is not already an occupied grave site.

The motion did not go to a vote because of a motion to continue the application to
the next meeting.
