Page 9

Mrs. Pat Farinacci indicated they have installed a drainage pipe from
their property to County Ditch 4. She indicated they would also place
restrictions on the type of house which could be constructed on the new
lot. She agreed they did not want to have small lots in the neighborhood.

Discussion

Mr. Thompson and Mr. House indicated their comments were the same as
made relating to Planning File 1579.

Recommendation

Matson moved, Johnson seconded that the Commission recommend approval of
Robert Farinacci's application for division of lot at 1892 Gluek Lane,
with the condition that the staff study the drainage in the area to
determine if any easement is required.

Roll Call, Ayes: Matson, Moeller, Berry, DeBenedet, Dressler,
Johnson and Wiski.

Nays: None.

Planning File 1581 - Sperry Corporation application for
variance to directional sign size at 2276
Highcrest.

Presentation

Mr. Dahlgren indicated the Sperry Corporation has been at this location
since the early 1960's. He stated the City, in 1972, had approved a
variance to permit the installation of a number of directional signs.
The company is now changing its name from Sperry Univac to Sperry, and
they propose to install a new uniform sign system.

The Sperry plant has a great number of entrances, and there is a
definite problem of finding the correct entrance. The variance
requested would permit a number of directional signs which would be
placed throughout the property.

Jack Grundtner, representing Sperry, indicated there are over 10,000
visitors a year to the Sperry plant. He said it is a problem for people
to find the entrance they need to use. The proposed signing program is
part of a national corporate program, and the size of the sign is part
of a corporate standard. Sperry uses approximately 1 and 1/2 million
square feet of building in the area.

Discussion

Mr. Honchell indicated there may be a need to have some signs higher if
the sight lines at an intersection are a traffic safety problem.
