Roseville Planning Commission Minutes
May 7, 1986

Page 12

Banet stated that they will certainly use their cleanup crew to
address any new problems, and again reiterated that they are
actually creating more parking spaces as a result of this develop-
ment. Paster emphasized again that they will keep the area clean
at all costs, and encourage residents to call them if they do
have problems.

Rachel Gade, 1760 Lindy, stated her concerns regarding the
employee parking. Banet replied that the employees are told to
park farthest away from the building; however, the City's
guidelines include both employees and customers. Gade also asked
how the garbage facilities in the back were going to be screened.
Banet pointed out that they would be screened behind a masonry
structure.

David Blankenship, 1728 Lindy Avenue, stated that in his opinion,
the parking would not work in the area and in the past, air
conditioners on Minnesota Federal have been too loud. The
architect for the project proceeded to point out how the air
conditioners would be screened, and what their respective
locations were.

Nancy Jahnke, 1717 Lindy, asked what percentage of the develop-
ment Walgreen's would utilize. Banet replied 11,000 of 27,000
square feet.

Irv Margolis stated he is very worried about the traffic in the
area, and the number of employees that would be in this develop-
ment. He stated that a study should be undertaken to fully
understand the development in the area. Wiski asked whether
Margolis would participate in such a study. Margolis replied
that he would. At this point in time, Mr. Margolis and Mr.
Paster proceeded to debate the number of employees that are
present in a standard Snyder/Walgreen's drug facility.

Name unclear, 1120 Dionne, asked where First Minnesota was going
to park from now on. Paster replied there is no arrangement with
First Minnesota, and First Minnesota will have to take care of
its own parking problem.

Sheldon Causton, 1752 Lindy, stated concern about traffic and
what will happen with the trees that are in the buffer area. The
architect stated that every effort will be made to keep the trees
in that area as a buffer.

Councilman Johnson asked whether any traffic data exists in the
area that is helpful. Janisch stated this would have to be
researched, but again the county should have the basic information.

Wiski stated this proposal should be really analyzed as to whether
the 27,000 square feet of new facilities is creating the problem.
It should be pointed out that there are a number of other facilities
that have created substantial traffic in the area. Thus, this
facility should not be held hostage as a result of substantial
traffic in the area.
