ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION

Paget11

Wednesday, July 13, 1988

commented that there would be a high cost burden on them if they
have to move and recommended that the city disapprove this plan.

Craig Erickson, 1709 Millwood,
planning that was going on, but
at single family zoning instead
pointed out the cost of land
development.

stated that he appreciated the
inquired if the city has looked
of industrial zoning. Johnson
would prohibit single family

Erickson encouraged the ci ty to explore compatible uses wi th
trucking to facilitate trucking and light industrial uses, and
stated his opposition to mUlti-family and retail development in
the area.

Les MacNamara, H&W Motor Express, stated that his company does
not plan on moving now or in the future, and encouraged the city
to deny the plan and any rezoning in the area.

Tim Callaghan, 3062 Shorewood Lane, stated his concern about the
effect of the redevelopment of the area further north, and
pointed out that value is relative. Callaghan stated that there
may be an increase in tax value, but a decrease in the value to
the city and the citizens who live in the area. Callaghan stated
that he was against high density housing because it is out of
scale with the area, the resulting concentration which would be
detrimental to the city, is not consistent with Metropolitan
Council projections, and because no study has been completed on
the impact of the housing on schools. Callaghan added that there
has been insufficient consideration of storm water run-off,
including debris and silting problems in the lakes in the area.
Callaghan said he would rather see more direct benefit though
uses which would create higher value jobs. Callaghan pointed out
that the increased tax base created would go to pay for initial
improvements, and that citizens would never see the benefit
because taxes would never be reduced.

Pamela Case, 2898 Mildred, stated that what is being talked about
is concrete, but what about the effect on children and wildlife
in the area.

steve Walsh, 1984 County Road C-2, stated that the city should
stay with office zoning.

william Kimes, 1740 Millwood, stated his support for the plan,
and that it would result in better quality then trucking. Kimes
pointed out that high density housing would be a problem.

Johnson closed the public hearing.
