ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION

Pagetlo

Wednesday, May 3, 1989

Maschka informed the Commission that he had visited the Southdale
site and observed a dark feeling within the ramp and that because
of the location of the lighting, there were dark spots in the
ramp. Maschka added that the materials of the ramp does not
blend in with the existing building materials at Southdale.
Maschka also pointed out that the concrete columns used on the
ramp do not match the other materials of the ramp. Maschka
questioned the weight restrictions on the upper level of the
parking ramp. The architect replied that the ramp would be
structured to handle fire vehicles on the interior driving isle
but that cars only would be allowed in the field of parking. The
architect pointed out that the overhead devices and other signage
would prevent large vehicles from getting onto their ramp.

DeBenedet pointed out that pick up and small emergency vehicles
could be restricted by the weight limits and that the 7' 6"
clearance would also restrict ambulances from reaching the upper
level of the ramp. The architect replied that pickups would not
be restricted.

DeBenedet asked about storm drainage and whether or not there
would be a sediment problem in the area.

Keel responded that the rate of run off would be approximately
the same. Keel stated that the drainage goes to the pond behind
Loehmann's and that a sediment sump system could be installed.

DeBenedet pointed out that at the neighborhood meeting, there was
discussion concerning additional lanes to get people out of the
site. DeBenedet wondered if there had been further studies
concerning this.

Koski replied that this issue was studied and would be done by
providing two lanes to turn right onto B-2 and Snelling.

DeBenedet asked about providing an additional through lane.

Koski responded that the four lane road is considered and that
there is space to handle a proper lane configuration for the ring
road.

DeBenedet asked if any additional lanes would be put in.
responded that they would.

Koski

DeBenedet asked for clarification of existing pathway locations.

Koski clarified pathway locations and pointed out that it would
be best to abandon the path on the east side of Fairview, south
of the first entrance.
