ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION

pagei16

Wednesday, May 3, 1989

DeBenedet asked if agreement could be reached in a 12 month
period.

Bestrom responded that yes it has to be done because the
Dayton's construction requires the removal of the existing bus
drop off area.

Johnson pointed out that this is the only time the City can deal
with the issue, that transit facilities need to be there and
agreement is important.

Bestrom pointed out that the RTB has the power of condemnation
and that this could be the fall back position. Bestrom added
that there appeared to be two separate issues.

Johnson stated that the City needs transit to be there.

Dahlgren pointed out to the Commission that there are a series of
construction modules, the last of which is Dayton's. Dahlgren
pointed out that an alternative could be to tie the issuance of
the building permit to Dayton's to the mass transit solution.

Johnson questioned if this would be fair to Dayton's.

Dahlgren stated that a
cooperatively and that time
practical problem because
Carson's.

solution has to be arrived at
is needed. Dahlgren pointed out the
the best location is controlled by

Johnson asked when the construction of the Dayton's store would
occur.

Bestrom responded that Dayton's construction would in the Spring
of 1990. The Dayton's architects stated that a 12 month period
could be a problem because the construction would be started the
first of January and that at 12 months, they would be out of the
ground.

Johnson stated that 6 months would appear to be better.

Nisj a pointed out that the solution could also be tied to the
issuance of the certificate of occupancy.

Roll Call:

Ayes:

Berry, Goedeke, Maschka, DeBenedet,
Stokes, Johnson

Nays:

None
