ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION

Paget 9

Wednesday, November 1, 1989

Ron Krank introduced the development team and summarized the
proposed request, pointing out the uniqueness of the Saturn
product and the process used to develop the proposal.

Steve Shannon stated that Saturn is excited to be in the area and
summarized the Saturn product and the unique Saturn process and
product through utilization of slides.

Krank stated that this development was not a normal
architectural planning process but used a prototypical design
concept. Krank summarized the building layout, design, signage,
and building materials.

Johnson questioned where the inventory would be located because
it does not show up in the drawings. Krank explained the
location where inventory would be stored on the site.

Maschka questioned the color of the signage. Shannon stated that
it would be red and white.

DeBenedet questioned how storm water would be stored on the site.
The civil Engineer for the project explained the location of the
drainage and stated that they will explore the possibility of
using the MNDOT land for ponding rather than the parking lot.
DeBenedet questioned the depth of the water in the parking lot.
The civil Engineer indicated that it could get to 12-14 inches
but they are refining the design to get it down to 6 inches.

DeBenedet questioned what the interior of the building would be
like. Krank replied that they have not done detailed design of
the interior yet. Krank stated that the design would meet
building codes and the owners needs.

Stokes stated that the metal and glass exterior reminded him of a
White Castle building and stated that the cold metal should be
replaced with something that generates more warmth. Stokes
stated that he liked the landscaping on the site but doesn't like
the rooftop elements.

Krank replied that the metal and glass exterior is similar to
those used at the office across the street and would provide an
integrated feeling in the area. Krank stated that it would be a
high quality building. Krank added that the material lends
itself well to creativity and forms possible and allows latitude
in colors and landscape materials. Krank stated that the
materials would be neutral but of solid high quality which would
compliment the area.
