<br />ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br />paget11 <br /> <br />Wednesday, April 18, 1990 <br /> <br />Goedeke questioned the zoning classification of a cemetery. <br />Dahlgren stated that it is R-3 mUlti-family. <br /> <br />Roberts questioned if the proposed time cut for site plan reviews <br />gives the city staff enough time to follow through. Jopke stated <br />that with at least a week between the Planning Commission and <br />city council meetings, staff should be able to follow it. <br /> <br />Dahlgren summarized the design standard changes calling attention <br />to new revisions. <br /> <br />Johnson questioned standards for screening of equipment. <br />Dahlgren stated that all equipment on the ground or rooftops <br />shall be screened. <br /> <br />Berry questioned the external handicapped accessibility including <br />curb cuts and automatic doors. Berry questioned if the City may <br />require large buildings to furnish automatic doors for the <br />handicapped. Dahlgren replied that the state law does not <br />require this and cities usually cannot make their standards <br />higher than the state code. <br /> <br />Dahlgren questioned Shardlow if the communities he has assisted <br />use bonds or letters of credit for landscaping. Shardlow replied <br />that they use both kinds of security. <br /> <br />Roberts questioned when the bond should be issued. Dahlgren <br />stated that the bonds should be issued prior to the plantings. <br /> <br />Dahlgren summarized sign ordinance changes. He stated that <br />ground signs may be used at 1/2 the size of a raised pylon sign. <br /> <br />Johnson questioned if the City can regulate sign size, <br />uniformity, materials, and color. Johnson questioned how other <br />cities handle this problem. Dahlgren suggested that the City <br />could include signage as an element of the site plan review. <br /> <br />Shardlow stated that this is very hard to accomplish. <br />added that it could be made a part of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Shardlow <br /> <br />Jon Eliason, owner of The Mop Shop, stresses support for ground <br />signs. Shardlow commented on certain language used concerning <br />signage. <br /> <br />Johnson asked for time and date preferences from the Planning <br />Commission to meet with the City council. The consensus of the <br />Commission was stated that 6:00 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May <br />21, 1990 was a potential time to meet with the City council at <br />
