ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION

Page 2

Wednesday, August 1, 1990

Planninq File 2059

Super America request for a special use permit for outside
storage and merchandising at 2785 Hamline Avenue.

Presentation

Shardlow summarized the need to have an approved plan which
spells out the limits of outdoor storage. Shardlow commented
that by adding the three foot sidewalk to the site, space for
cars would be taken away from the driveway between the pumps and
the building. Shardlow stated that although it is a tight fit,
cars can pass through and that the plan is acceptable.

Bill Bail of Super America handed out a site plan for the outdoor
storage and stated that the displays would be at least 1 foot on
each side of the door. Bail stated that the items displayed
would be pop, antifreeze, charcoal, and motor oil.

Goedeke asked why the Ice Machine wasn't around the corner.
Bail stated that it was there to guard against theft.

Berry questioned whether there wasn't another Ice Machine on the
north side of the building. Ms. Leko, the store manager stated
that there was in fact two ice machines and that one had to be in
front because there wasn't enough electrical outlets on the
north side of the building.

Roberts asked how high the outdoor storage would be. Leko
stated that it would be approximately 3 - 4 feet high. Bail
stated that they wouldn't be any higher than 4 feet for practical
reasons. Bail stated that any higher than four feet would
obstruct the cashier's view of the pumps.

Roberts questioned whether the storage will be brought in after
hours. Bail stated that it would not since the store was open 24
hours. Bail stated that the merchandise displayed outdoors would
be that which is difficult to display indoors, such as charcoal
and motor oil.

Berry questioned the height of the bottom of the window.
stated that it was a little lower than 4 feet.

Bail

Goedeke inquired whether the sidewalk and ramp would be
concrete. Bail stated that it would be.

Goedeke questioned whether parking would be on both the north and
south sides of the building. Bail stated that it would. Goedeke
questioned where the handicapped parking would be. Bail stated
that it would be on the southside.
