Merrill stated that they own the property and may want to use it for temporary storage. Shardlow stated that staff decided to pursue the vacation since it was unneeded by city. Goedeke stated he was concerned that Midland Hills wanted to store sand and fertilizer in an R-1 zone. Goedeke asked how much storage would take place. Merrill stated that most storage would last one day. Merrill gave an example of sand being placed on site and then dispersed the next day. Merrill also stated that they have experienced a lot of vandalism in that area and would probably screen this vacated area. stokes questioned if the city ever sold vacated land. stated that it reverts back to previous landowner. Shardlow DeBenedet stated that he would like to work with surrounding communities on trails. DeBenedet stated that the plan should be forwarded to the Parks Commission. DeBenedet stated that if the proposed trailway doesn't work out something should and could be worked out. Johnson stated that Midland Hills has been very cooperative with their neighbors in the past. Goedeke stated that he was concerned about construction starting before the Commission had a chance to look at the issue. MOTION DeBenedet moved and Berry seconded to recommend approval of the vacation of a portion of Ryan Avenue with the stipulation that the City Council direct the question of the potential pathways to the Parks and Recreations Commission for review and recommendation.
