Ebeling/Welsh Companies, Inc. request for a special use <br />permit to allow a 14,000 sq. ft. amusement center at 1655 W. County <br />Road B-2. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Shardlow stated the applicant is proposing to build a 14,000 sq. <br />ft. golf training and recreation facility in the space previously <br />occupied by the International Fitness Club at Crossroads Shopping <br />Center. The center would include a chipping and putting course, a <br />six-stall driving range, and a retail shop. As an amusement <br />facility, the applicant must obtain a special use permit. <br /> <br />Shardlow commented that the Fire Marshal has reviewed the plans and <br />has asked that the sprinkler heads be protected from golf balls. <br />Also, the Chief of Police has seen the application and has no <br />concerns with the proposed use. <br /> <br />Jay Ebeling informed the Commission that the facility is designed <br />more for golfers and not for "put-put" players. It is geared <br />towards the adult golfer and will offer leagues and tournaments <br />with prizes awarded. <br /> <br />Harms inquired about the hours of the facility. Ebeling replied <br />they will be open in conjunction with mall hours. <br /> <br />Harms stated a concern for kids loitering around the facility. <br />Ebeling answered there will be no reason for them to be there. <br />There are no pop machines, no telephones, and the establishment is <br />
