J opke summarized the <br />safety issues regarding above ground and under ground tanks, aesthetic issues, <br />economic issues, and the alternatives recommended by staff and presented a potential <br />ordinance amendment to the Planning Commission for consideration. <br /> <br />Pat Regan, Minnesota Coaches, expressed their need for a larger fuel storage tank <br />before winter and indicated that they could purchase fuel cheaper in larger tanks. <br /> <br />Joel Henderson commented on the State regulations for tank capacity. <br /> <br />Issues discussed included the definition of above ground liquid storage tanks and what <br />materials they would hold, cost of tanks, restrictions on size of tanks in certain areas, <br />physical size of tanks, if there could be a time restriction associated with the placement <br />of tanks, whether it is a land use issue or a health and safety issue, and if screening <br />should be required. <br /> <br />No citizens appeared. <br /> <br />MOTION <br /> <br />Thomas moved and Harms seconded a motion to recommend approval of an ordinance <br />amendment to allow above ground liquid storage tanks by special use permit in non- <br />residential zoning districts. <br />
