<br />Planning Commission Meeting Minutes <br />April 13, 1994 <br /> <br />but he was opposed to the townhouse type of lifestyle. <br /> <br />Tom Fraser, AIaddin Street, expressed opposition to the medium density <br />housing land use change and recommended that such medium density housing <br />be kept east of Dale Street. <br /> <br />Dawna LongenDyke, 649 West County Road C, stated that townhouses are <br />more expensive and will require additional mortgages. Member Wall <br />explained that senior housing can be more affordable and that it is needed in <br />the community. <br /> <br />Dennis Olson,764 Rose Place, stated the Kehr project is not affordable to the <br />senior population and that, in approving such a use, the Planning Commission <br />would create an elitist area. He recommended that the city buy the American <br />Legion site. <br /> <br />John Brockman asked the commission to define affordable housing. Member <br />Wall stated that $75,000 to $125,000 is considered affordable housing for a <br />townhouse development. <br /> <br />AI Jenson, 690 West County Road C, stated his opposition to the project <br />because of the drainage and because the townhouse project has no senior <br />housing services nearby. He asked if the Commission had considered a land <br />use change near Byerly's (at County Road C) so that seniors would have retail <br />activities near by. <br /> <br />Karen Foster, 675 County Road C, stated she was opposed to the project <br />because this was the beginning step in the change of an entire single-family <br />neighborhood. <br /> <br />There were no further public comments. <br /> <br />Chainnan Edward Roberts closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />7 <br />
