City of Roseville Planning Commission Minutes
Wednesday, June 8, 1994
MINUTES
Chairman Wietecki asked for comments from the public. There were none. Chairman
Wietecki closed the hearing.
Chairman Wietecki stated that 33 parking spaces required indicates that there is little
traffic from the use. A general discussion of the traffic flow in the front driveway ensued.
Chairman Wietecki asked what the minimum width of a two-way driveway should be.
Lon Aune responded that a minimum is 20 feet; whereas, the driveway proposed is 12 feet
wide.
Member Roberts stated he is concerned with the traffic flow and the pedestrian safety in
the same area. He also expressed concern with the extended face of the building not being
consistent with other buildings on the street.
Motion:
Member Roberts moved to recommend denial of the variance for the front of the
building and the driveway. The motion died for lack of a second.
Member Thomas expressed concern with the highway engineer's opinion regarding the
turning lane and the driveway. Chairman Wietecki stated that a better solution would be
to reverse the traffic flow to the west from west to east. Member Wall stated that the
First Bank use could be discontinued and that then the turning lane issue could be
reconfigured. He stated he was in favor of granting the variances for the front canopy and
the improvements. Member Harms asked for further details for what the configuration
could be in the future. Member Sandstrom asked if the traffic lanes could be widened on
the driveway near Albert Street to allow for additional space. Member Rengel stated that
the Planning Commission should continue the issue to look at alternatives. Chairman
Wietecki clarified the 3 variances requested and stated he was concerned with the traffic
flow on the site.
Motion:
Member Thomas moved, seconded by Member Sandstrom, to continue for one
month the review of the Good Samaritan Center's request for 3 variances to consider the
redesign of the driveways and to review the architecture along County Road B.
Roll Call:Ayes:Sandstrom, Rengel, Thomas, Wall, Wietecki, Harms,
Roberts
Nayes:None
6
