CITY OF ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8, 1995

Mike Falk pointed out that a sign permit would still be required and that City staff would
review each request to insure that it is consistent with the intent of the ordinance.

Member Sandstrom suggested that maybe larger size signs should be permitted by special
use permit.

Chairman Wietecki stated that the City should not control signs that are not visible from
public streets.

Wietecki closed the public hearing. There were no public questions or comments.

Motion:

Member Rengel moved and Member Wietecki seconded to recommend
approval of the ordinance amendment as outlined in the staff report.

Roll Call:

Ayes:
Nays:

Harms, Rengel, Sandstrom, Wall, Wietecki
None

The Planning Commission recessed at 8:45 p.m. and reconvened at 9:00 p.m.

6.

(c)

Planning File 2722: Kenneth Kath request for a special use permit for rental and
leasing of automobiles at 2611 Hamline Avenue North.

Mike Falk summarized the proposal. Mr. Falk testified that staff had reviewed the
proposal against the general conditions for granting a special use permit and found that
the building is compatible with the City's Comprehensive Plan, that it will not negatively
impact the market value of contiguous properties, the site plan and internal traffic
circulation, landscaping, and building materials meet City design standards and are
compatible with contiguous properties, and that the development will not adversely
impact adjacent streets.

Chairman Wietecki expressed concern about the lateness of the receipt of the background
materials from the applicant.

Member Rengel asked for clarification about what issues needed to be considered this
evening and on which plan is to be considered.

Falk stated that the item is strictly the special use permit for leasing and is not related to
the night watchman's residence issue.

6
