demolition had begun before contractor obtained a building permit; stated they operate <br />a business - but not from their home. <br />Grare introduced a petition stating that the addition would be to the side, with no <br />windows. <br />Member Wilke asked about time frame for improvement of the driveway; he was told it <br />would be this year after the additioin is complete - or next year if frost prevents it this <br />year. <br />Harry LocKrem, 1366 W. Burke, asked what lifetime of the variance would be; Member <br />Wieteck advised that the garage could not be expanded without a variance. <br />Linda Lang, 1366 Burke, urged oppostion to approval of the variance; that the <br />structures and driveway was a problem; that the addition was not in character with the <br />existing house; that if approval given, this would be cibdibubg any on-going problems; <br />vehicular activity was disruptive to their sleep. <br />Resident, 1370 W. Burke, advised there were not a great deal of vehicles involved; that <br />the hearse was in the garage where it couldn’t be seen. <br />Sylvester Bendel, 1359 W. Burke, requested drawings be submitted; advised that a <br />swimming pool had been removed without permits; clean-up was requested, but not <br />done; no permits had been issued for the driveway; that the driveway to Burke should <br />be paved and sodded; that the applicant should replace the stucco and brick exterior <br />and then come back with request for variance. <br />Dennis Oberg, 1300 Burke, stated he felt this matter should be reconsidered and the <br />applicant should return at later date. <br />Angela Dunn gave the history of the property and advised that mediation was <br />attempted in April but it was signed because drainage and conservation easements <br />required would not allow man made improvements - no sheds, raised planters, etc.; that <br />she would prefer to get rid of Hamline curb cut because of difficulty getting in and out of <br />lot; that it would cost $1,000 to take out the Burke Avenue driveway and sod area. <br />Chairman Wietecki looked at totality of non-conformity and discussed impact. <br />Sylvester Bendel stated Linda Lang position was a reasonable one. <br />Chairman Wietecki closed the public hearing. <br />Chairman Wietecki questioned the curb cut history; City plans do not show curb cut; <br />Jay Kennedy advised it was difficult parking in area and that the City installed cut as <br />part of project at request of property owner; that property owner had 60 days to hard <br />3 <br />
