Motion:
Member Wietecki moved, seconded by Member Harms, to
continue the application, for PF 2924, to the August 13, 1997
Planning Commission meeting because the applicant was not present.
Motion carried 6-0.
6(d)Planning File 2929.
Request for a Conditional Use Permit, by C
B Commercial, to allow the placement of a commercial communications tower on
a non-City tower site in a B-6 Zoning District, located at 2582 Long Lake Road.
Chairperson Wietecki opened the hearing and requested a summary of the staff report
by Dennis Welsch. Welsch reviewed the staff report and described the staff findings
and a recommendation of approval.
John Hollenbeck, CB Commercial, reviewed the technical feasibility and noted that the
applicant can abide by conditions in the staff report.
John Goedeke asked if a tower was a permitted use in a B-6 zone and whether the
technical feasibility precluded placement on existing towers.
Member Mulder asked if other cell locations are anticipated. John Hollenbeck explained
CB Commercial’s interest in using a third tower owned by the City on the Water
Authority site.
No public comment was offered. Chairperson Wietecki closed the hearing.
Motion:
Member Harms moved, seconded by Member Wietecki, to recommend
approval with the following conditions, as delineated by staff:
1.The applicant must demonstrate the service area for the proposed
antenna in this location versus a City tower site.
2.The applicant must demonstrate why it is not technically feasible to
meet the requirements of the code and integrate such antennas or
add them to an existing cellular or water tower.
3.The applicant must provide space for up to three additional users
on the proposed tower or demonstrate why it is not technically
feasible to do so.
4.The monopole must be set back a minimum of 30 feet from the east
property line and a minimum of ten feet from the south property
line.
4
