Motion carried.
Ayes:5 (Wilke, Harms, Olson, Klausing,Mulder)
Nays: 0
Discussion:
Curb and paving: no ability to solve curb/gutter. Jay Kennedy advised parking was
updated in 1985, but no curbing was placed on the site. Storm sewer is available to
parking lot; no hardship.
MemberWilke: Sidewalk issue. Dedication of dollars for new sidewalk in commercial
areas.
Motion:
Member Mulder moved, Member Klausing seconded, to amend the
motion by deleting the curb on the north side (snowplowing may be a problem)
until such time as parking lot is resurfaced, but curb is required on the west,
south and east side.
Motion fails.
Ayes:Mulder, Harms
Nays: Olson, Wilke,Klausing
Discussion:
MemberWilke: Why prolong for ten years? Why not complete at this time?
?
MemberKlausing: Would create a hardship on current owner because of last owners
problems. The area of variance request has aesthetically poor vegetation; it would be
better with proper landscaping in future.
Motion:
Member Mulder moved, Member Wilke seconded, to recommend denial
of a variance to reduce the front yard setback of a pylon sign to five feet for the
purpose of replacing an existing pylon sign at 1930 Lexington Avenue North,
based on the following staff findings and recommendations:
Findings:
1.The proposed setback variance for the replacement sign is not in
?
harmony with the general purpose and intent of the Citys
Comprehensive Plan and Title 10 of the City Code (Zoning). There is
adequate area to move back the sign to a point 15 feet from the front
property line without interfering with the flow of traffic on the site. One
parking space will be lost with the replacement sign at a five foot setback
or a 15 foot setback.
5
