<br />Dennis Welsch explained the history and background of the Verizon request. <br /> <br />Member Wilke asked why landscaping was proposed around an industrial site. <br /> <br />Member Olsen asked where are other towers; she asked about City poles - are there two monopoles close to each other <br />with different vendors? (Staff will review existing permits) <br /> <br />Member Wilke asked about high winds requirement. <br /> <br />Member Mulder asked about removal responsibility for the pole? Who owns it? <br /> <br />Jay Littlejohn noted Verizon would own the pole and remove it in 25 years. The pole will withstand a 90-mile wind with ice <br />on the pole. <br /> <br />Member Mulder noted that monopoles were not the original concept - multiple users on one pole were to be the norm. <br /> <br />Jay Littlejohn explained how a co-locator (two users on one) pole could be erected. <br /> <br />Member Cunningham asked about "capacity" and "coverage"; Jay Littlejohn explained the coverage. <br /> <br />There being no public comment offered, Chair Rhody closed the hearing. <br /> <br />Motion: Member Cunningham moved, second by Member Wilke, to offer a resolution recommending approval of a 40 <br />square foot variance from Section 1012.1 OA 10 (Support Buildings) of the City Code for Verizon Wireless to construct a <br />240 square foot equipment shelter to support a telecommunication device at 2361 Highway 36, subject to the findings in <br />Section 5 of the project report. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mulder, Wilke, Duncan, Olson, Cunningham, Rhody <br /> <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />Carried 6-0. <br /> <br />Motion: Member Mulder moved, second by Member Rhody, to recommend approval of a conditional use permit to allow <br />Verizon Wireless to install a 120 foot monopole and associated antennas at 2361 Highway 36, subject to the conditions <br />listed in Section 7 of the project report. (PF3292) <br /> <br />Ayes: Mulder, Wilke, Duncan, Olson, Cunningham, Rhody <br /> <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />Carried: 6-0. <br /> <br />Member Olson asked how difficult it would be to have a map of all antennae, broken out by carriers (Staff to prepare a <br />map). <br /> <br />Extract of Draft Minutes of Planning Commission meeting of March 14, 2001: <br /> <br />b.
