The Public Works Directol 'City Engineer shall Irepare <br />an annual lighting project which shall include City owned and/, r utility owned strel t lights <br />requested and/or recommended during the proceeding year. <br /> <br />COST <br /> <br />The City shall pay the operating, maintenance and replaceme, it cost of all street ighting <br />located within the right-of-way. Funding shall be from a street light Jtility fund. <br /> <br />In new developments, the City shall not assume the operating or maintenance costs I ntil the <br />fixtures and poles are accepted by the City. <br /> <br />All costs associated with installing street lights in new c evelopments and ,xi sting <br />neighborhoods shall be financed 100% through special aSSf ssments to the bE lefiting <br />properties in the vicinity of the street light. Benefiting proper ies are hereby defi led as <br />properties within 150 feet in any street direction from the propOSE d location, on either side of <br />the street. Assessments will be spread on a unit cost per parcel be 3is. <br /> <br />Street lights shall be included as part of reconstruction and oV1,rlay projects if 600;\ of the <br />property owners petition for the installation. Mid-block lights shall be placed betwe m lots on the properlllines. <br /> <br />Other street lights may be considered if a specific safety hazard e :ists, such as a curv or hill <br />that would limit the effectiveness of vehicular headlights. <br /> <br />Street lights shall not be placed within ten (10) feet of fire hydrants. Ir five (5) feet of driv lways. <br />
