trucks and dumpsters along both sides of the lot all the way around. This makes it easy for
residents to drive to the drop off point for their material, unload and exit.

The number of vehicles coming to Clean Up Day has dropped each year. However the
volume of material has remained relatively the same. Most of what was dropped off was
Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) or garbage. Roseville required all the garbage be taken to
the NRG processing facility in Newport.

Table Two: Materials Dropped Off
Roseville Clean Up Day Totals Comparison Chart
2003 2004 2005
Vehicles 561 477 447
Non Recyclable
MSW 15.23 tons 60 yards 20 tons
C&D 270 yards 150 yards 210 yards
Recyclable
Metal' 15 tons 10 tons 8 tons
Batteries 27
Tires 400 207 294
Electronics 890 Ibs 4,855 Ibs 2,940 Ibs
Appliances" 71 82 68
Brush 60 yards 30 yards negligible

, also includes washers, dryers, water heaters and microwaves

" includes dehumidifiers, refrigerators and freezers

There was also a considerable amount of Construction and Demolition debris (C&D)
which is taken to the SKB landfill. Typically the C&D waste was material left over from
home improvement projects.

Washers, driers and water heaters are the main components in the scrap metal category.
All these products are sent to a metal scrap business.

There are two trends worth noting. First is the increase in the amount of electronics being
dropped off for disposal. The Clean Up Day rate of $7 an item can be considerably
cheaper than the rate at private disposal companies that charge by the pound. The volume
of containers filled with electronics in 2005 was actually greater than in 2004. But the
weight was significantly less because in 2004 we had 12 console TVs dropped off. Each
one weighs over a hundred pounds. The electronics are taken to Asset Recovery in St. Paul
which guarantees the items are processed in the United States.
