HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES TUESDAY, JUNE 11, 1991 I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Chairman Deutsch at 7:30 p.m. II. Roll Call Members Present: Mary Jean Turinia Anderson, Bob Bancroft, Mary Helen Deutsch, and Mary Litsheim. Excused Absences: Karen Bondy, stan Borden, Dave Norrgard, Jackie Lindberg, and Vickie Wright. Others Present: Ron Moorse, staff. III. Approval of Minutes Anderson moved, Deutsch seconded, that the meeting be approved. Roll Call, Ayes: Deutsch, and Litsheim. Nays: None. minutes of the May 14 Anderson, Bancroft, IV. Business 1. Grievance Update Deutsch indicated a First Phase No Fault Grievance training session was recently held. She also indicated there are no new No Fault grievances. 2. Committee Updates A. Essay Contest The Commission discussed the theme for the contest. Betty wolfangle, the Chairman of Roseville's Bicenten- nial of the Constitution Committee has talked with the School superintendent and with Mary Deutsch regarding using the Bill of Rights as the theme for the essay con- test. The Commission members agreed that it would be advantageous to select a theme the School District is already supporting. 3. Commission Brochure The Commission discussed, revised and updated several areas of the brochure. The goal is to finalize the brochure revi- sions by Friday, June 21. 4. Commission Work Plan The Commission discussed the work plan for the year, includ- ing appointments to committees for the various acti vi ties. Anderson distributed information regarding "A World of Difference," a program to reduce prejudice and celebrate diversity. The members agreed that the Commission could play the role of catalyst, or resource, or liaison to bring pro- grams such as A World of Difference and other human rights information to various groups in the community.
