<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />MONDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1991 <br /> <br />I. <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />The meeting was <br />at 8:20 p.m. <br /> <br />called to order by commission Chair Deutsch <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />David Norrgard, Bob Bancroft, Mary <br />Litsheim, Mary Jean Turinia Anderson, <br />Jackie Lindberg and Mary Helen <br />Deutsch. <br /> <br />Excused Absences: <br /> <br />stan Borden <br /> <br />Unexcused Absences: <br /> <br />Karen Bondy and Vickie Wright <br /> <br />III. Aooroval of Minutes <br />Lindberg moved, Anderson seconded that the minutes of the <br />November 12, 1991 meeting be approved. Roll Call: All <br />ayes. <br /> <br />IV. Business <br /> <br />A. Committee Reports <br /> <br />1. Essay Comoetition Evaluation. The Commission agreed <br />that the essay competition had been very successful <br />this year. Things to remember for next year <br />included: a) meeting personally with the Social <br />Studies teacher before the school year began <br />resulted in the highest number of essays from that <br />school; b) a ranking form with the basic criteria to <br />judge the essays might speed up the process. <br /> <br />2. Multicultural Events and communications. <br /> <br />a) Martin Luther King, Jr. <br />After discussion regarding cost, it was decided <br />that the ad to be placed in the paper will <br />consist of a picture of Martin Luther King, Jr. <br />with the title "I Have a Dream" and a line <br />indicating the sponsorship of the Roseville <br />Human Rights Commission. <br /> <br />b) Asian Pacific ISlander Event <br />Based on Bob Bancroft's report that an Asian <br />event was already schedu~ed at Rosedale in April <br />or May, it was decided that the subcommittee <br />should meet again with a recommendation as to <br />how to proceed on this event. <br />
