<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 1992 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by commission Chair Mary <br />Helen Deutsch at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Members present: <br /> <br />Bob Bancroft, David Norrgard, and Mary <br />Helen Deutsch. <br /> <br />Excused Absences: <br /> <br />stan Borden and Mary Jean Turinia <br />Anderson. <br /> <br />Unexcused Absences: Thelma McKenzie and Jackie Lindberg. <br /> <br />Others present: Laura Kushner, Staff Liaison. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br />Norgarrd moved, Bancroft seconded, that the March 10, 1992 <br />minutes be approved. Roll Call: All ayes. <br /> <br />IV. <br /> <br />Business <br />A. <br /> <br />Multicultural Events and communications <br />1. Fall Cultural Event: <br />Rosedale: Kushner reported that Rosedale ~as sent the <br />contract to obtain space for ~,-e~t~mSe~:l:-9, and has <br />promised at least 30' by 30'. The City is examining <br />the contract to make certain there is no problem <br />signing it. Rosedale also indicated they would dis- <br />play signs throughout the mall if they were profes- <br />sionally done in a standard size of 22" x 28". <br /> <br />'-:L-J~ '> <br />F <br /> <br />\ ~_'S <br /> <br />Parks and Recreation Involvement: Kushner reported <br />that the Roseville Parks and Recreation Department <br />has offered to assist in planning the Fall Cultural <br />Event. Kushner will invite some Parks and Recreation <br />staff to attend the next meeting to see how they <br />might be involved. <br /> <br />Other: Deutsch noted that the date of the Cultural <br />Event coincides with the League of Minnesota Human <br />Rights commission Annual Conference. The Commission <br />decided that only one Commissioner would attend <br />the League Conference while the rest would partici- <br />pate in the Fall Cultural Event. <br /> <br />B. Communications <br />1. Recent White supremacy Newspapers/cable Shows: <br />Kushner reported that two Roseville residents had <br />brought by a copy of a White supremacy newspaper that <br />was delivered to their doorstop and asked that it be <br />brought to the attention of the Human Rights Commis- <br />sion. The North Suburban Cable commission has also <br />contacted City staff regarding their obligation, <br />under a Supreme Court ruling, to broadcast a program <br />which promotes the White supremacy agenda. <br />
