Johnson stated that from <br />listening to the Commission members it seemed that it was <br />premature to put Human Rights Commission meeting on cable and <br />would inform the City Council of that decision. Borden <br />suggested a format using two Commission members who would <br />report on topics discussed during Commission meetings and also <br />give a list of human rights related activities going on in the <br />area. It could be called the H.R. Update. <br />VII. Structure of Commission <br />Deutsch addressed the issue of how the Commission is currently <br />structured. Deutsch reported that in the past there has been <br />a Chair and a Vice-Chair. Deutsch reported that this places <br />a heavy burden on the Chair and presented the concept of a <br />Chair and three Vice-Chairs. Each Vice-Chair would be in <br />charge of a particular area including: education, bias crime, <br />and current events and futuring. Deutsch also suggested using <br />volunteers from the Community to help with some human rights <br />activities. <br />VIII.Approval of Minutes <br />Deutsch moved, Bancroft seconded, that the minutes of January <br />12, 1993 be approved. Roll Ca11: All ayes. <br />IX. Grievances <br />Borden and Bancroft reported on a grievance they had been <br />mediating involving age discrimination by an employer. <br />Because the Grievant was not satisfied with the mediation <br />procedures he was informed of other options available to him <br />and the case was closed. <br />X. Next Meeting <br />The next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 9, <br />1993 at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. <br />XI. Adjournment <br />The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 p.m. <br />
