Mike Hermes, although unable to attend the
meeting due to a conflict, communicated to the staff liaison
that he had talked with Sonja Peterson of the Shoreview
Human Rights Commission and she will let their Commission
know that the Roseville Commission is interested in
collaboration. Mike is being trained on how to use the
Cable Commission studio equipment as is a member of the
Shoreview Commission.

VIII. Other Business. Stan Borden drafted a Letter to the Editor
for the Commission to publish concerning the recent
distribution of hate literature. Mary Jean Turinia Anderson
motioned that the Commission send it. Bob Bancroft
seconded. All ayes. The staff liaison will run the letter
by the City Council and City Attorney before sending it to
the papers.

The League posters are now on display at various locations
throughout the City. More are on order.

Jill Bergquist will contact the School Districts regarding
the possibility of sponsoring a 10th grade essay contest in
addition to and separate from the middle school contest.
She will also contact the Shoreview Human Rights Commission
to inform them of this so that no actions are duplicated
between the two Commissions. Stan Borden suggested that a
separate, more sophisticated topic be given to the 10th
grades, one requiring some research (e.g., tying current
events in the word to human rights issues) .

The Commission needs to advertise for a new Youth Consultant
to the Commission as Beatriz's term is up in June, and she
will be graduating from high school.

IX.
