Roseville Human Rights Commission Minutes
July 9, 1996

Page 2

It was also decided that recruitment efforts would be continued, or even expanded
in the fall to attract student Commission members. One idea was to contact
teachers directly. The Commission could work collaboratively with teachers to offer
some form of academic credit for participation on the Commission.

8. Other Business
A. Jill Bergquist served as a panel participant at the League of Minnesota Cities
Annual Conference in Rochester. She reported it was a very worthwhile
experience, as the panel discussed dealing with intolerance in your
community.

B. Mary Jean Turinia Anderson discussed the long-range planning workshop
held by the State Department of Human Rights Advisory Task Force
Committee. The comments included in that meeting are attached for
distribution with the July minutes.

The issue of how to get State agencies to work constructively with local
agencies was also discussed. Jill offered to draft a letter to David Bowlio,
which would:

. inquire how many complaints are being filed, and

. express an interest in Commission members participating in
No Fault mediation. She will mention that several members
have taken mediation training.

9. Next Meeting
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 13, at 7:00 p.m. in Roseville City
Hall.

10. Adiournment
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
