<br />Roseville Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />July 9, 1996 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />It was also decided that recruitment efforts would be continued, or even expanded <br />in the fall to attract student Commission members. One idea was to contact <br />teachers directly. The Commission could work collaboratively with teachers to offer <br />some form of academic credit for participation on the Commission. <br /> <br />8. Other Business <br />A. Jill Bergquist served as a panel participant at the League of Minnesota Cities <br />Annual Conference in Rochester. She reported it was a very worthwhile <br />experience, as the panel discussed dealing with intolerance in your <br />community. <br /> <br />B. Mary Jean Turinia Anderson discussed the long-range planning workshop <br />held by the State Department of Human Rights Advisory Task Force <br />Committee. The comments included in that meeting are attached for <br />distribution with the July minutes. <br /> <br />The issue of how to get State agencies to work constructively with local <br />agencies was also discussed. Jill offered to draft a letter to David Bowlio, <br />which would: <br /> <br />. inquire how many complaints are being filed, and <br /> <br />. express an interest in Commission members participating in <br />No Fault mediation. She will mention that several members <br />have taken mediation training. <br /> <br />9. Next Meeting <br />The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 13, at 7:00 p.m. in Roseville City <br />Hall. <br /> <br />10. Adiournment <br />The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m. <br />
