<br />HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12,1996 <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Jill Bergquist at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: Isaac Afwerke, Mary Jean Turinia Anderson, Jill Bergquist, <br />Susan Forsyth, Janet Henquinet, Mike Hermes, Margaret <br />Murphy Maertz, Christine Malark, Thelma McKenzie. <br /> <br />Members absent: Michael Trainor <br /> <br />Others present: Marcy Cordes, Staff Liaison <br /> <br />III. Approval of Minutes <br />Thelma McKenzie moved, Margaret Maertz seconded, that the minutes of the <br />January 9, 1996 meeting be approved. <br /> <br />Roll Call, Ayes: All present. Nays: None. <br /> <br />IV. Bias/Hate Crimes <br />No report. <br /> <br />V. Cable TV <br />Jill Bergquist, Mary Jean Turinia Anderson, and Susan Forsyth met with the ISO <br />#623 multicultural committee on February 2, which expressed interest in working <br />with the Commission on cable TV programs. <br /> <br />Mike Hermes reported that taping for the first program is tentatively scheduled <br />for 2/22/96, Accessithon week. Ruth McKenzie and Mike Patrick may appear on <br />the program. A discussion was held as to whether McKenzie and Patrick should <br />be "saved" for the video planned in conjunction with the grant proposal, rather <br />than for brief interviews on the cable program. Other topics suggested for the <br />February show: human rights annual meeting, use of posters, interviews with <br />individual commissioners to discuss current projects. Thelma McKenzie agreed <br />to contact Lee Bauer for ideas or interviews. Fred Stordy, multicultural school <br />principle, was suggested. Mary Jean Anderson agreed to contact David <br />Beaulieu, State Human Rights Commissioner, for possible interview. <br /> <br />Bergquist moved to place the "Roseville Human Rights Commission" name on <br />the program. <br /> <br />Roll Call: Ayes, all present.
