Joint meeting with Parks and Recreation Commission to discuss complaints at Acorn <br />Park Basketball Courts, Soccer Fields at Central Park and Bennett Lake Fishing <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />August 1999 <br />. Bias complaint against unidentified security guards and police officers <br /> <br />September 1999 <br />. Complaint was not filed within time limits so was referred to DHR for action <br /> <br />December 1999 <br />. Bergquist and Mort Rywick reviewed a complaint and met with Deputy Chief Tom <br />Alleva, Alleva agreed to have bias/hate crime training within Police Department and <br />agreed to step up patrols in the neighborhood. They also met with complainant and <br />developed a Community Alert leaflet to distribute within neighborhood. Commissioners <br />volunteered to distribute, <br />. Bergquist requested volunteers to update BiaslHate Crime response and establish a <br />publicity sub-committee, <br />. Bergquist received letter regarding a perceived racist incident. Bergquist will contact <br />Alleva, <br /> <br />January 2000 <br />. Leaflet drop postponed until police do additional investigation <br /> <br />April 2000 <br />. No further incidents at Centennial neighborhood - where leaflet drop <br />. Police scheduled training on reporting bias crime <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />May 2000 <br />. Final letter to close file on Centennial neighborhood <br /> <br />June 2000 <br />. Former resident had complaint about police. HRC agreed that he should work through <br />formal complaint procedure at the Police Department. <br /> <br />August 2000 <br />. Training for Police on Understanding, Reporting and Countering Hate Crimes to be held <br />in September. Commissioners invited to attend, <br /> <br />January 2001 <br />. POST Board will require police officers to have additional training in how not to do <br />racial profiling <br /> <br />February 2001 <br />. HRC requested Police representative to attend the next meeting to speak about the intake <br />process and response to last year's training <br /> <br />( <br />
