Commissioner McGehee suggested that each commissioner could take a specific
assignment area and bring forward ideas and coordinate the structure and process with the school
district on specific geographic areas of particular groups needing assistance that would be most
beneficial to the district initially. Commissioner McGehee opined that the City's Parks and
Recreation Department may be a good place to start diversity training for department employees
and their involvement with children in the community.

City Manager Malinen opined that this would provide an excellent opportunity for city and
school district collaboration and involve other segments of the city's population.

Commissioners concurred that this was a great opportunity to foster a partnership with the
school, and this initial project would serve as a foundation, and could serve as the HRC's only
major project for the remainder of 2007, given the enormity of the project.

Chair Delmore questioned City Manager Malinen on the type of diversity training currently
offered by the City to their employees. City Manager Malinen responded that he would need to
investigate that further, given his short tenure with the City.

RAS Diversity Task Force Update
Chair Delmore briefly summarized her attendance on the Task Force; noting that the information
was nearing completion and submission to the State of Minnesota.

Commissioner Delmore opined that the proposed partnership of the HRC and School District
was a "big thing" and a great partnership opportunity, needing good focus and energy.

Chair Delmore noted that the Commission had previously discussed 2-3 events, such as forums
for the 2007 calendar year.

Commissioner McGehee opined that the HRC should wait and see what Chair Delmore found
out from her contacts with the St. Paul Foundation and Chaska Police Department; however,
suggested that Allan Page would make a great speaker for a forum

Chair Delmore advised that she would bring back additional information on a Youth
Commissioner and the St. Paul Foundation for the next meeting.

Discuss Appointments of Commission Members
Chair Delmore and Commissioner McGehee sought clarification on the appointment of
Commission members and the process the City Council was following; specifically addressing
recent citizen concerns regarding the appointment to the Housing and Redevelopment Authority
