Regular City Council Meeting <br />Monday, June 18, 2007 <br />Page 11 <br />nate and seek participation of the City's Parks and Recreation Com- <br />mission and Planning Commission as appropriate. <br />Mayor Klausing spoke in support of the motion with final decisions to <br />be made by the City Council following advisory commission input <br />and recommendation. <br />Councilmember Ihlan questioned when this item would come up in <br />budget discussions. <br />Finance Director Miller advised that all department heads would be in <br />attendance to present their specific department budget items to the <br />City Council at the July 16, 2007 Council meeting. <br />Councilmember Kough expressed frustration and disappointment that <br />his previous and numerous meetings two years ago with civic clubs, <br />and their commitment of $500 each for a total of $2,500 at that time <br />were approved due to maintenance issues. Councilmember Kough <br />spoke in opposition of sending the issue to the PWET or Planning <br />Commission; opining that the City was nondiscriminatory and person- <br />ally welcoming other organization participation and their logos. <br />Mr. Myllenbeck noted that other communities were predominantly <br />represented on their welcome signs by the five clubs represented by <br />him tonight. <br />Councilmember Roe observed that all the signs didn't need to be in- <br />stalled in one year, depending on their cost and budget considerations; <br />and noted that the Parks and Recreation Commission may have ideas <br />on costs for signage by the July Council meeting. Councilmember <br />Roe spoke in support of the signage and including the signs in the <br />City Manager-recommended budget as a line item. <br />Councilmember Pust thanked the five organizations represented by <br />Mr. Myllenbeck for bringing this project to the Council's attention <br />and for their great community support in the past, present and future. <br />Councilmember Pust noted Mr. Myllenbeck's comments about the <br />clubs' difficulties in finding new members and encouraged residents <br />
